Santos Swim + Healthy Seas

Santos Swim's has partnered with Healthy Seas, the environmental initiative that focuses on retrieving abandoned fishing nets to be recycled into ECONYL® regenerated nylon. 1% of every Santos Swim purchase made will be donated to help fund further recovery efforts and to support their mission.

Fishing gear makes up at least 10% of all marine debris

Abandoned fishing gear destroys marine habitats and harms wildlife as it erodes over hundreds of years into smaller microplastics. Healthy Seas works with local governments, NGOs, fishermen and other stakeholders to reduce the amount of gear entering the ocean each year. Since 2013, their environmental initiative has collected over 773 tons of ghost fishing nets from European seas - that's equivalent to the weight of 6 blue whales!

Healthy Seas promotes the movement towards a circular economy

Instead of destroying these abandoned nets, Healthy Seas works with Aquafil, a leading global producer of nylon, to transform this marine waste along with fabric scraps from mills, carpet flooring and industrial plastic from landfills into ECONYL® regenerated nylon. This innovative fiber is then used to create new products such as our swimwear collection and encourages others to think about new solutions to environmental issues.
